About Us

HackUAB, a 36-hour hackathon hosted at the Autonomous University of Barcelona, brings together people of all experience levels, majors and backgrounds to UAB. HackUAB provides the space and the resources for you to express your creativity, ingenuity, and determination to create anything you want to.

Who can attend?

We welcome any student 18 or older to participate! We always welcome volunteers, mentors, and sponsors to attend as well. Contact us for more information.

What do I bring?

A laptop, laptop charger, phone, chargers, headphones, a pillow, toiletries, an extra set of clothes, and a water bottle.

How much does HackUAB cost?

HackUAB is absolutely free to attend, and we will be providing all meals, snacks, and refreshments!

Will you offer travel reimbursement?

We will be offering limited travel reimbursements this year! If you get accepted we will contact you with further information.

How can I become a volunteer?

Do I have to be a programmer?

Absolutely not! It doesn’t matter if you are a designer, a writer, or a chemistry major. There is a place for you here. There will be a team formation session at the beginning of the event to help form teams.

What is a hackathon?

A hackathon is an event where motivated people come together and use technology and creativity to build something amazing. Any designers, writers, computer scientists or anyone interested in hackathons are welcome to attend!

Do I need a team? How large can my team be?

Don't have a team? We got you covered. We will have time before hacking begins for hackers to get together and form teams. You can have a maximum of 4 members on your team.

Will there be food?

Yes, lots! We will provide three meals a day as well as snacks, drinks, and caffeine.

Can I reuse a previous project?

You can NOT use anything that you have started prior to the event. You can think of ideas for your project, but you need to start from scratch when you arrive.
